IELTS is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who intend to study or work in a foreign country where English is the primary language for communication.

IELTS is managed by the University of Cambridge (ESOL) examinations British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS confirms the highest International standards of language assessment of English skills, which will assist in your success for a new job or study placement abroad. You will be assessed on four essential elements, namely;
The test is designed to reflect the language spoken every day in an English-speaking country and even covers variations such as British English, American and Australian English.
Part of the assessment is a real-life conversation that will allow you to communicate effectively with English speakers worldwide.
Universities and employers recognise IELTS in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the U.S.A.
Results are issued in 15-17 working days after the test.

Which Test To Choose?
If you plan to attend university for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree you will need to take IELTS Academic test.
IELTS General Training:
For work-related training or if you intend to emigrate to an English-speaking country, IELTS General Training will provide you with the language skills you will need to participate fully in your country of choice.
Test Formats & Results:
You can give IELTS test for Academic or General Training, but the Listening and Speaking Modules are the same in both the tests.
If you are planning to study abroad, you must take Academic Reading & Writing Modules.
If you are planning to apply for immigration/work, you are required to take General Reading & Writing Modules.
However, all the candidates are required to give all the four modules during the test.
Assessment of the test is done on nine levels called Bands.
There is no pass or fail; you receive bands from 1 to 9 in each module and an overall average band.
The results of the IELTS Tests are valid for two years.
The total duration of the test, which includes all the modules, is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Listening – 30 Minutes
Reading – 60 Minutes
Writing – 60 Minutes
Speaking – 15 Minutes
