Scholarship opportunities for bright and deserving students

Increasing number of Indian students are choosing to study abroad in top international study abroad destinations. Academic pursuits, a lucrative career and PR opportunities is what lures these ambitious students to study abroad. Their aspirations, we believe, are in the right place.

Many students, however, have to sacrifice their dreams due to lack of financial support or enough funds. After all, studying abroad is not an inexpensive affair. It could cost anywhere between four-ten lakh rupees to forty-fifty lakh rupees, depending on the choice of study program, college / university and country.

Listed below are some of the scholarships offered by the Indian government, and also scholarship provided by institutions from some of the top international study destinations.

Scholarships offered by Indian government / education bodies to study abroad

Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships: Scholarship for tuition fees, living costs, travel allowance, J-1 visa support and accidents, sickness coverage.

Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships: Scholarship for J-1 visa support, monthly stipend, accident and sickness coverage, air travel allowance (round-trip economy class).

National Overseas Scholarship: One-time scholarship of about 15,400 USD. Also covers tuition fees, cost of books, airfare, living costs, medical insurance, and visa fees.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree: Allowance of about 1,100 – 1,200 EUR per month for tuition fees, library, insurance, etc.

Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship: Placed in: St. Antony College, the University of Oxford London. Approx 30,000 EUR is offered to students cumulatively.

Scholarships offered to study abroad in U.S.

Cornell University Tata Scholarship: Scholarship is granted for tuition fees, which is renewed annually based on academic performance.

AAUW International Fellowship: Scholarship grant is given for Master’s / First professional degree of 20,000 USD, 25,000 USD for Doctoral programs and 50,000 USD for Post-Doctoral programs.

Richmond Scholars Program: Scholarship grant that covers tuition fees, living costs, and healthcare.

Microsoft Scholarships: Scholarship grant for Undergraduate programs that partially covers tuition fees.

Scholarships offered to study abroad in U.K.

Felix Scholarship: Scholarship grant that covers 100% tuition fees, 15,000 EUR – 16,000 EUR for the cost of living and airfare.

Rhodes Scholarship: Scholarship grant for tuition fees and monthly stipend of approx. 1,500 EUR.

Chevening Scholarship: Scholarship grant that covers tuition fees, accommodation, and airfare for up to a year.

Global Study Award: A one-time scholarship grant that covers up to 10,000 EUR.

Great Education Scholarship: Scholarship grant of 10,000 EUR for a year.

Scholarships offered to study abroad in Canada.

Ontario Graduate Scholarships: Scholarship grant of 5,000 CAD – 15,000 CAD over the period of course tenure.

York University International Student Scholarship: Scholarship grant of 35,000 CAD per annum.

Canada Memorial Scholarship: A one-time scholarship grant of 10,000 CAD.

Scholarships offered to study abroad in Australia.

John Allwright Fellowship (JAF): Scholarship granted based on needs and resources.

Griffith Remarkable Scholarship: Scholarship grants that could cover up to 50% of tuition fees
