Planning to study in Poland? Before packing your bags, one of the most important steps is preparing for the entrance and language exams required by Polish universities. The good news is – Poland offers plenty of English-taught programs, but universities want proof of your readiness, either in English proficiency or subject-specific qualifications.
1. English Proficiency Exams (Most Programs)
If you’re applying to English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programs in Poland, you’ll need to prove your English level through internationally recognized tests.
- IELTS: Minimum overall band score of 6.0–6.5 (some top universities may ask for 7.0).
- TOEFL iBT: Usually 72–90+.
- PTE Academic: Accepted by some universities, with a score of 59+.
- Exemptions: If you have studied in English-medium schools (CBSE/ICSE) or already have higher education in English, some universities may waive the test.
2. Medical Programs (MBBS in Poland)
For Indian students aspiring to study MBBS in Poland, clearing NEET is mandatory. Without NEET, Indian authorities will not recognize your degree.
- NEET qualifying score is required at the time of admission.
- Some universities may also conduct an internal test in Biology & Chemistry to assess applicants.
3. Business & Technical Programs
If you’re aiming for top programs in Business, Management, or Engineering, you may also be asked for additional international entrance exams:
- GMAT: Preferred for MBA programs. A score of 500+ is generally competitive.
- GRE: Required in some technical Master’s programs. Target a score of 300+.
4. Internal Exams / University Assessments
Certain Polish universities, especially public ones, may conduct internal entrance tests in subjects like Math, Physics, or Biology (depending on the program). These are usually online or written tests, focusing on subject knowledge.

Tips to Ace Your Exam Prep:
- Start preparing at least 6–9 months before deadlines.
- Take mock tests regularly to improve speed & accuracy.
- For IELTS/TOEFL, focus on speaking & writing (areas where Indian students usually lose marks).
- For NEET aspirants, revise NCERT Biology & Chemistry thoroughly.
- If aiming for MBA/Engineering, balance quant + verbal reasoning practice.
Pro Tip: Many Polish universities are flexible and may accept other English proficiency proofs if you don’t want to take IELTS/TOEFL. Always check the specific university’s requirements before applying.
