Test Formats & Results:

You can give IELTS test for Academic or General Training, but Listening and Speaking Modules are the same in both tests.
If you are planning to study abroad, you must take Academic Reading & Writing Modules.
If you are planning to apply for immigration/work, you are required to take General Reading & Writing Modules.
However, all the candidates are required to appear for all four modules during the test.
Assessment of the test is done on nine levels called Bands.
There is no pass or fail; you receive bands ranging from 1 to 9 in each module and an overall average band.
The results of the IELTS Tests are valid for two years.

Test Durations

Total duration of the test, which includes all 4 modules, is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

What is IELTS band / score requirement to study in UK?

A minimum IELTS band of 6 or higher is required to study in UK.

Is health insurance compulsory for studying in UK?

Yes. It is compulsory to have health insurance for the entire duration of study in UK. Additionally, if you have a tier-4 student visa and are studying in the UK for more than six months, then you could be eligible for NHS benefits.
